Nashville on Film
The idea came when my mom visited me while I lived in San Diego for school. I was a typical college student trying to make rent and didn’t have the extra funds to explore the city I was studying in, however, it was a different story when my mom came to visit me. I felt like I was playing tourist in the same city I was living in! I got to show her my favorite local coffee shops while we also got to explore restaurants and shops for the first time together. That trip was when we realized: we had to do a girls trip to a new city!
If you haven’t guessed it yet, we chose Nashville, Tennessee as our first city to explore together!
I brought a disposable film camera along on the trip. Does anybody else get so stressed going through TSA with a film camera?!! Between taking my shoes off, taking out electronics, and making sure I ask them to hand check my camera all while panicking that they don’t ask me to take the film out of the camera.
My favorite part was Broadway and I wish we hadn’t waited til our second to last nigh there to experience the nightly live music because wow those artists are beyond talented. My mom and I were hooked and had to go back for our last night. One of the performers even followed me back on Instagram and it felt like a celebrity followed me haha! We visited midweek so we avoided the weekend crowds and honestly I would recommend that to everybody. I haven’t experienced a weekend in Nashville, so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt… but I’m biased and still standing by it.
I have to say I was disappointed by their coffee shops. Maybe we’re spoiled with California’s coffee culture but 90% of the lattes I ordered tasted so watered down, even the drinks I requested to have less milk in. However, the coffee shops scored a 10/10 on decor and atmosphere. The coffee fein in me was so relieved when I tried a Burnt Sugar Latte from Milk & Honey. I wasn’t expecting such an amazing latte from a restaurant! AND the food was amazing we had to go back for second meal. My mom and I both got the avocado toast with a side of berries, as pictured in the photo of her popping a blueberry in her mouth below!
